SL isn't for everyone and certainly isn't for every brand, but it's important (I think) to experiment and get familiar with what is coming down the pike.  Great write up.  And point #3 - well observed.  It continues to amaze me how generous people are with their knowledge and time in SL.  I guess everyone is a newbie at some point and people like to give back.
